Palm Springs Adventure

/ Travel

A few weeks ago I shot a wedding in Palm Springs and when you go to Palm Springs to work… you hopefully don’t just work. So, extremely exhausted from shooting the day prior and also from Gina and I staying up entirely too late chatting, we were still excited to explore and eat our way through this cute little town. We started the morning off with coffee (of course) and Buttermilk & Fresh Corn Pancakes with blueberries & bacon and Custard Cheesy Scrambled Eggs with Maple sage sausage at Cheeky’s. I highly recommended the pancakes. I know it sounds weird to have corn in your pancakes but trust me, they were so good!
We then headed to the Ace Hotel to hang out. We stopped by the pool and had ourselves a large glass of cold brew stumptown coffee, yes, a second round of coffee!
Our next stop was the Korakia Pensione. A true oasis in the desert! You walk in and immediately you’re whisked to another country, a different land and time and it’s so refreshing and relaxing. Can someone please get married there and have me shoot you and your beautiful day?!
And of course we couldn’t leave without seeing and saying goodbye to Marilyn. She’s leaving Palm Springs but you can follow her here.
The trip was brief but we explored and ate and what more could you ask for in an adventure?

This San Diego downtown wedding was fun, glamorous, and filled with the perfect people to make this wedding and party unforgettable.

Alison and Shaun started their day getting ready at the Sofia Hotel. The city provided the perfect background for their first look and bridal party pictures. The ceremony was held at Symphony Towers and the reception followed at Luce Loft.

If you’re a bride and you’re looking for the perfect wedding dress I’ve narrowed my favorite designers and dresses. I hope you find something new, something that excites you, something that inspires you to think out of the box, but above all I hope you find something that you love!

Free People
as an everyday dress, I’d say that Free People is a little on the expensive side. But as a wedding dress, I’d say the price is perfect! The dresses are beautiful, unique, very bohemian, and just the right amount of umph to be used on your wedding day. It’s perfect for an elopement to city hall, a small- intimate beach wedding, a quick trip across the border to Mexico for a beach or desert wedding… the ideas are endless!
Here are two of my favorites

Urban Outfitters
Rock and roll meets mellow hippie with a price that will allow you to afford the perfect photographer to capture your insanely cool wedding. This dress was under $200 and it matched this courthouse elopement perfectly.

San Diego Elopement, Harmony Loves you can see more of this dress here

Virgos Lounge
The perfect dress and the perfect price tag! This dress would be perfect even without the price! It’s beautiful for your perfect day and could even be worn again.

Raina Maxi Dress with Embellished Shoulder– $178.73

Did I miss a favorite designer or dress of yours? I’d love to hear about this amazing designer or dress in the comment section!

*Edited
These two designers totally slipped my mind and I just had to add them because they are some of my absolute favorite dresses/ designers:
Daughters of Simone – I love their bohemian/ hippie vibe and their dresses have the right amount of fun and funk to wear for any type of non-traditional wedding.

A few favorites from the internet this week…

1. I discovered a new app and it may be as fun and addicting as instagram. It combines images and stories and it’s gorgeous! I haven’t posted anything yet but I plan to but it’s also fun to just look at other’s stories and images. Stellar is the app and you can get it here.

2. I’m kind of a food fanatic. I like it all and I’m always willing to try new food. And this is something I would definitely try… Maple water!

3. Speaking of loving food, I am obsessed with granola these days. I have a whole board on pinterest dedicated to the nutty, oaty goodness.

4. Hello! Beautiful short wedding dress- It’s the perfect dress for a courthouse elopement!  These dresses and accessories aren’t for the typical bride, so if you’re looking for something different, unique, maybe even a little edgy? Here you go, Bona Drag.

5. Two of my favorite travel blogs right now- Lustt For Life and Ann Street Studio.

6. If you’re at work and don’t want to be seen crying… and not just cry but ugly cry, then don’t watch this.

Last week I stayed at The Lafayette Hotel in North Park on my way to photograph a wedding and it was the perfect place to stay in San Diego. The historic hotel has a great mix of vintage and modern decor and I had to make sure I captured it on film with a cute couple too, of course.

If you’re looking for an outdoor/ indoor space with a vintage, historic vibe for your wedding or engagement session, The Lafayette Hotel has the charm!
